WHO WE ARE

Sting in the Tail is a British gifting brand rooted in the Lake District, where heritage, creativity, and thoughtful design come together. For over 30 years, we have been designing distinctive ranges inspired by everyday usefulness and the character of traditional British life. We take functional items and re-imagine them as gifts that feel charming, practical, and memorable.

Our brand is built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and a desire to offer products that feel authentic—objects with purpose, story, and lasting appeal.

WHAT WE DO

We design and develop unique lifestyle and personal-care gift collections, each with its own visual identity and narrative. Our ranges include home and lifestyle essentials, garden tools, men’s grooming, aromatherapy, bath and body, and seasonal collections—each created with strong design, cohesive branding, and thoughtful presentation.

Where possible, our products are made or finished in the UK, and many of our concepts draw inspiration from British heritage and the character of the Lake District.

Alongside our branded collections, we also offer own-label and bespoke design services, collaborating with retailers who want something distinctively theirs.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

We’re inspired by the idea that useful things can bring joy, that the everyday can feel special, and that a gift means most when it carries a story. We do what we do because we love the challenge of turning everyday objects into something that makes people smile. Our work is shaped by a love for British heritage and timeless utility, a commitment to creating gifts with character and longevity, a spirit of creativity and innovation in everything we design, and a belief that good products should feel effortless, honest, and enjoyable.

OUR APPROACH TO RESPONSIBILITY

We believe products should be thoughtfully made. Our cosmetic items come from trusted UK and European manufacturers, we use FSC-certified wood where possible, and our retail packaging is plastic-free or made from recycled plastics. Most products are finished and hand-assembled in our Lake District office.

We’re not perfect, and we won’t pretend to be. Some components come from overseas, and we’re always learning how to improve our sourcing and design choices. What matters to us is being honest about where we are and committed to getting better. If you’d like to know more about our sustainability journey, we’re happy to share it.
